In-clinic diagnostics are a vital part of the care offered at Acadiana Veterinary Clinic. Our laboratory provides pet owners with an expedited diagnosing process for their companion pets. We can process blood test results on site, typically within a matter of minutes. This is especially beneficial for critical illness and injury cases that need prompt diagnosis and treatment.
Our pets cannot tell us when something is wrong, in fact, they instinctively hide their abnormalities. Diagnostic tests can indicate a condition that may not be obvious from the outside. We conduct in-house diagnostic tests to get an accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. We recommend regular diagnostic testing so that our veterinarians will have baseline information about your pet. Having a history of test results lets us know if there is a significant change that indicates an underlying condition or disease.
Our in-house diagnostic analyzers enable us to conduct a complete analysis of routine blood work. We perform cytology tests, check for heartworms and tick-borne diseases, and we conduct fecal analyses and urinalysis. Results from diagnostic testing can detect inflammation, infection, anemia, bacteria, fungi, parasites, and cancer. We can also determine electrolyte status and hydration levels, evaluate kidney, liver, and pancreas function, screen for thyroid disease, check blood sugar levels, and more.
